Bere is an ancient form of barley, only found in Orkney, and has been used in baking across the islands for over 300 years. A must try when sampling what our islands have to offer.

These beremeal crackers were given to me as a present. I enjoyed them very much. Just sorry no outlets for them near to my village in England.

These crackers have a unique flavour and crispness — against stiff competition, they have become one of my favourite cheese biscuits.

I love these crackers! Tried them in Edinburgh and was delighted to find I could buy them from Jolly’s . They remind me a bit of old fashioned cream crackers but they are miles better!
